One of the popular spots for entertainment, the Nightclub at The Grand Victorian Hotel enjoys the privilege of being located in the center of town, near public transport, and of being housed inside the grandeur of the hotel. Bands and musicians from all over the country come here to perform, and sometimes the party goes on till the wee hours of the morning. Call or see the website to know more.
La Havana is often frequented with regulars who come here almost every day of the week as there is something or the other going on. Salsa lessons, live music concerts, fine cuisine and a varied wine list are some of the attractions which bring in the crowds. The bar is underground and has a Gothic vibe to it. Students especially enjoy the electronica and house music nights, which see some of the coolest DJs here. Call for open hours and additional information on upcoming events.
The Brunswick is much more than just a throbbing pub in the heart of Hove. It is a premier live music venue in the city, which has hosted remarkable performances by artists from across the globe. Built in the 1930s, the pub is decorated in art deco style with turret roofs and brass windows, that add to the old-world charm that the place exudes. The refreshments served are nothing less than delicious, with the soups and salads standing out. Apart from hosting wonderful music events, Brunswick also conducts singing and dancing classes. Visit website for more information.
Life is a happening nightclub that features the best in live DJs. Boasting of a water-side location, the venue can also be hired for private events.
Maximize your nightlife experience at Shooshh Brighton. This pioneering VIP super club is one of the best in the country with a luxe ambiance, happening parties and hip crowd. An iconic landmark on the clubbing scene, this venue hosts top international DJs and music events that are major crowd drawers. Enjoy the eclectic experience with premium spirits and VIP treatment.
Steamers draws a mixture of both residents and visitors to its New Orleans-look venue. It's not quite wild enough to rival some of the bars under the King's Road Arches, but the frequent performances of live bands and bright breezy atmosphere all add to its charm. The large terrace at the front of Steamers is the perfect vantage point on sunny days to watch the waves roll in, hip Brightonians meander by and enjoy a pint or two of cool crisp beer. The food is a bit hit and miss: if burgers and chips, generous sandwiches, and scampi are dishes akin to paradise for you.
Set under the Arches right next to the beach, Gemini's is one of the many bars/clubs jostling for attention from large groups of twenty-something students and party crowds that congregate in the city each weekend. Like many of its local counterparts, Gemini's is all about garage and hard house, so if your cup of tea edges more towards disco, look elsewhere! Bottled beers and ready-mixed alcoholic drinks are most popular with the clientele, presumably as dancing with a glass of wine or pint of beer requires much better balancing skills. Snacks are also available for the hungry party-goer. Prices are reasonable and in line with most of the competition.
The Event II doubles as a nightclub and gig venue. For clubbing it attracts a younger clientele into their house and garage and smattering of R and B. It's one of the city's larger clubs, and inside it's done out in heavy pile carpets and chrome. The dance floor is nicely sprung so there's ample chance to shake your booty all night long.
Part of the Oceana chain of clubs spread across Britain, this multi-award winning club in Brighton attracts the city's creme-de-la-creme with its VIP booths, exclusive guest lists, prime city center location and international service. The five exotically themed bars and two nightclubs can be booked for hen & stag parties, private events, luncheons and business meets too. And don't be surprised if you bump into a footballer or television star; they all drop in here for a night of fun. For more details, call ahead on the toll free number +44 845 296 8590
Brilliant underground club with a very chilled atmosphere. Jazz and funk tunes are played by a mixture of live acts and DJs. Get down on the dance floor or relax on the VW Beetle seats. There are various club nights on different nights of the week with guest DJs. Some weekday nights offer free admission but weekends have entrance fee. Drinks are of the standard club variety, that is mostly bottled beers and spirits. It's The Funk Club on Tuesdays, Seriously Funky on Wednesdays, Sambation, samba and dance tunes on Thursdays, Love Bug, jazz funk on Fridays and Batacuda, latin jazz on Saturdays.
During the summer this is a brilliant beach bar to hang out in, serving pizzas, salads and sandwiches to go with your cold beers. At night it becomes a 600 capacity club, boasting some of Brighton's most popular nights. The following is a current schedule of club nights, although these may be subject to change. Check the local press for up to date listings.
There are three clubs, a pub and restaurant down this end of town, so you won't be stuck for anything to do. The Loft, upstairs and based in two rooms, is one of the bigger clubs in the alternative vibe. The dance floor is always heaving and a high-ceiling spacious affair. The bar room houses a few chairs, the ad-hoc cloakroom and believe it or not, an Atari with those long gone favorite computer games! On Wednesdays, they play Studio, that is trash, rock and rave. Thursday nights are for funk, break and hip hop. The theme for Friday nights is soul city and on Saturdays, the music is a concoction of breaks, jazz, and drums and bass.
