    An Evening With Boz Scaggs
Capitol Center for the ArtsOctober 20, 2014 8:00 PM
    44 South Main Street
    Concord, NH 03301
Boz Scaggs transitioned from singing rocking blues music with longtime friend Steve Miller to performing what radio would call "middle of the road" music. He released his first album Boz in 1965 but didn't make any noise on the charts until his 1976 release Silk Degrees, recorded with a backing band that would later go on to its own success as Toto. Scaggs took a break from the music industry altogether for a little while in the 1980s and since his return primarily sticks to performing his old hits and classic jazz standards.

    Brett Dennen

    695 Dug Way Road
    Brownfield, ME 04010
The slightly awkward, red haired and freckled singer/songwriter Brett Dennen often surprises audiences with his warm, folk-inflected voice and catchy guitar picking. Dennen began writing songs in 2004 as a camp counselor for kids, but soon realized that music was a career he wanted to pursue. Eventually his soft-rock ballads caught the attention of his contemporaries and Dennen was invited to open for the likes of John Mayer and Jason Mraz. After he secured multiple songs on popular television shows, Dennen had established enough of a reputation to headline prominent venues around the country.

    Manchester, NH 03101
Formed in 1969 by Tim Hauser and an assorted cast of talented singers, The Manhattan Transfer is a New York-based vocal group that has managed to build a reputation for itself as one of the premier a capella groups in America for its unique ability to incorporate elements of jazz, big band and contemporary pop into its sound. Though the band's initial years were a bit shaky, with the group's lineup nearly always in flux, The Manhattan Transfer managed to raise a few eyebrows during the mid-1970s, including record label impresario Ahmet Ertegun, who offered the group a contract with this his imprint, Atlantic Records. Shortly after releasing its first album on Atlantic in 1975, the group was able to attain a high level of notoriety and has maintained its impressive level of popularity ever since.

    Lebanon, NH 03756
Mary Chapin Carpenter is an award winning rock/country singer and songwriter. Throughout her career critics have struggled to pin down exactly what style Mary encapsulates. Her music has flavors from country, folk, and rock stylings, but she seems to always fall more into the country category. Regardless of categorization, the music is smooth and melodic, often heavy and worth seeing.
