Alabama is a country rock band from (you guessed it) Alabama that was formed in 1969. The group blended traditional country music withsouthernrock as well as elements of gospel and pop that gave Alabama's sound a crossover appeal, leading tosurprisinglyunprecedented success. Shortly after striking it big with it's 1981 album, Feels So Right, the band started touringextensivelyand incorporating elements like impressive lighting rigs and various "sets" into its performances. Though the band called it quits in 2004, it has since reformed and can now be found playing various venues throughout the continental United States andoccasionallyCanada.

After serving as a hired gun as a touring guitarist with Sufjan Stevens and the Polyphonic Spree, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Annie Clarke assembled her own supporting cast under the moniker St. Vincent in 2006. She released her first album,Marry Me, in 2007 and delivered an indie pop/art rock sound with intricate arrangements and a healthy dose of her instrument of choice, the electric guitar. St. Vincent's follow up record,Actor, demonstrated a darker approach, with more complex emotions than her debut, offering beautiful juxtaposition between violent, chaotic rhythms and the natural delicacy of her voice.
