Set in New York City in the 1940s, the Tony award-winning musical Guys and Dolls follows the criminal activities of a group of professional gamblers. Originally directed by George Kaufman, Guys and Dolls debuted in 1950 and won the Tony for best musical the following year. By 1955, the story had been adapted to the iconic film version, starring Vivian Blaine, who also performed in the original musical along with Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons and Frank Sinatra.
Miranda Lambert gained fame on the television show “Nashville Star” on which she was a finalist in 2003. Her music career had been in the making since childhood, and at the age of 16 she was granted a recording session. However wanting to stay closer to her side of the “bluegrass," she declined the offer; it wasn’t “country” enough. Since then, Lambert learned to write her own music and to play guitar in order to maintain her country style.
