A National Historic Landmark situated on 70 acres, the Georgian-style Montpelier Mansion operates as a house museum and a rental facility. The property contains a rare surviving 18th century summer house and the Little Teapot Gift Shop. Some of the Mansion's rooms are furnished as they would have appeared from the end of the 18th century until 1830. Montpelier Mansion is available for weddings, receptions, luncheons, and meetings.
Brookside Gardens is a public garden located inside the Wheaton Regional Park, Silver Spring, Maryland. It is open for public visits without any charge. Named after the legendary rocket scientist, NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center is open to the public through their visitor center. The center was founded in 1959 and is NASA's flagship space flight complex. Only scheduled tours are available and families or small groups visiting the visitor center to see the exhibits and rocket garden can do so during normal hours without any reservations. The registered tours comprises of operation areas, testing and satellite building sites.
One of the prominent middle schools in Takoma Park, the Takoma Park Middle School has its origins in the historic Takoma-Silver Spring School. A National Historic Landmark, Riversdale is a restored, stucco-covered brick Federal-style plantation mansion. The home is open for public docent-guided tours year round on Friday and Sunday afternoons and may also be rented for special events.
