The Monroe County Courthouse is a magnificent structure located in the city of Bloomington. The courthouse was established in 1818, but has gone through several restorations and modifications. The initial building was a log structure, which was converted to brick one and finally a stone structure was erected, which stands till date. Built with the Beaux Arts style of architecture, the court building speaks of grandeur in every possible way. The beautiful dome that adorns the building looks splendid from inside as well. The courthouse functions even today and continues to serve the people of Monroe County.
Since 1998, the Upland Brewing Company has been serving Bloomington and its nearby towns. This brewery brews sours, ales and lagers; it offers a mix of traditional items with a contemporary twist. It also has seasonal varieties, but regulars need not fret as many brews are offered throughout the year too. And, if you find the beer making process intriguing, you can join the Upland Brewing Company tour that takes you through the entire brewery. It can also be hired for private events and celebrations; can accommodate 100-150 guests and arrangements for more people can also be made. The Owen County Courthouse is a beautiful Classical Revival building constructed in 1911. Owing to its magnificent structure, it became a part of the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. The courthouse still continues to fulfill its purpose by the serving the people of the county.
Located in Bean Blossom and home to the Bluegrass Festival, lies the Bill Monroe's Memorial Music & Campground. Named after the legendary Bill Monroe, the park is spacious and surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors can partake in a number of activities like jogging, fishing, hiking, camping and even hold picnics here.
