Located in the heart of Boras, Caroli Church is a popular tourist attraction and an important religious place in Sweden. Constructed in the 13th Century, it is the oldest historical building in the country. The church's tall and imposing clock tower stands out amongst other neighboring buildings and is a prominent local landmark of the city. It is owned and maintained by the Swedish Evangelical Church.
The textile capital of Sweden is Borås, 60 kilometers (37 miles) north of Gothenburg. It is perfect for a day trip. Hedared Stave Church, lies in Hedared, in Boras municipality, about 55.5 kilometers (36.43 miles) from Gothenburg. The stave church is the last remaining medieval church of its kind in Sweden. Established somewhere between the 14th and 15th Century, it is almost entirely made of wood. Having been renovated a couple of times, the church as we see today sports small interiors, just about 35 square meters (376.74 square foot). Possibly, the oldest element of the place of worship is a 13th-century altar made of kalk. Apart from this, the church houses beautiful sculptures dedicated to Saint Francis and the Virgin as well as artwork by Johan Ehrenfrid.
