Old industrial communities are more prevalent in northern and central Sweden, but you will find one by the rapids of Mölndalsån, just a few kilometres out of Gothenburg. You will also find Kråkan which is a nice local bar. If you pass the paper mill, you will find beautiful old buildings on the slopes above the cafeteria. To get here, take tram 4 to the final stop. Cross the bridge and follow the road for a couple of hundred metres, then cross the next bridge on your right and you are there.
The versatile Fängelset is an eclectic blend of a cafe, a popular event venue, a nightclub and much more! It hosts numerous concerts: pop, electronica, indie, rock, punk, hardcore and so on, throughout the year. The cafe at this place plays host to a wide range of cultural events like art exhibitions, talks, workshops, lectures and poetry readings, and also DJ nights. But that's not all! If you're a film editor, you'll delight in the in-house film editing studio as it allows you to modify and revise your films and reels. Avid photographers can take advantage of its darkroom, while hardcore artists can hire their art studios. In all, a vibrant art space! Check website for information on current events.
As you could guess from the name, bowling is the name of the game at Strike & Co. You can reserve a lane for regular bowling, come at night for Disco Bowling (music, lights, florescent-colored pins), or take advantage of the lunch buffet Monday through Friday from 11a to 2p, which includes a round of bowling with your meal. If you're not in the mood for games, you can just come for dinner and drinks, but food isn't really the main reason to come.
Enjoy the food and atmosphere of a standard pub at Tidbloms Pub & Restaurang. Here you can try items like fish & chips, burgers and grilled beef, as well as the Caesar salad and vegetarian burger. On Fridays from 4p to 7p, try the all-you-can-eat buffet, and check out the happy hour drinks at the bar. There are regular live music performances and comedy nights. You can also put your knowledge to the test at the variety of quiz nights.
Stage Door is the place where actors and musicians hang out, which is shown from its name. Performing arts students also go to the restaurant, since it is not very far from Artisten, the University of Gothenburg's artistic centre. The menu offers a variety of different dishes and specialties. From Mexican food and burgers to pasta and salads. The prices are very reasonable and the premises large, so it can get pretty loud as the evening progresses, but the atmosphere is jovial.
Pasta + is a typical pasta place with red-and-white chequered tablecloths and a variety of dishes to choose from. The bar is well stocked and has a large selection of grappas. This is a large and a warm place, with room for many diners. The glassed-in terrace is open all year round, which means you can sit out and savor the food. The kitchen stays open a little longer than at the smaller restaurants in the same area. Pasta Plus is situated in the very center of town and is popular with the people of this city. The restaurant is open from 3p during weekdays and on weekends from 12p.
Nestled within the Elite Park Avenue Hotel, the Park Aveny Café serves typical French bistro fare, with many other international options. The interiors have a modern finish, with white as the dominant hue. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, they also serve post-theater crowds. If you make your way to the basement of the Elite Park Avenue Hotel, don't be surprised to find yourself in a British pub. There is a huge collection of beers, ales, whiskeys, and of course, a full menu!
Genuine Australian bar and restaurant owned by an Australian, Dancin' Dingo, in a basement not far from Avenyn, is most popular for the inexpensive beer. The food is typically Australian, with large steaks and burgers with names like Bondi Beach Burger and Outback Sirloin Steak. The actual restaurant is quite cozy, with several different rooms and a simple décor.
Evas Paley is perfectly situated halfway up Avenyn and with lots of space for the outdoor section. In the summer, this is a good place to sit and observe people walking by, and to be seen. Evas Paley is fully licensed and also serves lunches. But their coffee and cakes are a bit too expensive, especially as there are lots of cheaper places close by.
