Amid the high rise buildings of Cancun's Hotel Zone, there exists a relic of the city's ancient history. San Miguelito is an archaeological site that opened to the public in November of 2012. The site is home to 40 ancient structures, which the Maya inhabited 800 years ago. Of note is the 26-foot-tall (7.9-meter-tall) pyramid. It's a great place to take photographs, or to meander in the jungle and learn about this ancient culture.
