Georgia-based reggae fusion band Passafire was formed in 2003 while its members were still students at Savannah College of Art and Design. Since the 2006 release of its self-titled debut album, Passafire has offered a reggae-rock sound with understated elements of jazz, dub, ska and hard rock. For its fourth studio album Start From Scratch, released in 2011, the band makes use of synthesizers as well as banjo and harmonica tones for a half synthetic and half organic sound.

The Raising Of America: Early Childhood and The Future Of Our Nation
West Valley College April 07, 2015 9:20 AM

Saratoga, CA 95070
You're invited to a special screening of the opening episode of California Newsreel's "The Raising of America: Early Childhood and the Future of Our Nation," airing this spring on PBS. The video interweaves the latest discoveries from neuroscience with stories of families and communities struggling against social conditions that put children on low-developmental trajectories.   Following the screening, join us for a panel discussion about what it takes to ensure a community where young children thrive. Our ability to remain prosperous depends on everyone being able to reach his or her full potential. One of the smartest investments we can make is giving our children a strong start, from prenatal development through the course of their young lives. Locaton: Lower Lounge, Campus Center.  Part of the West Valley College 50th Anniversary Performance and Lecture Series.
