The second generation roots reggae artist and poet, Luciano, began recording his spiritual music in 1992. His brand of reggae, culture-centric and reflective of his religious beliefs, kept the "Rasta Renaissance" going in the early 1990s following the death of reggae artist Garnett Silk. His song "Shake It Up Tonight" on his 1993 debut album Moving Up, became the #1 UK reggae hit in the same year, though it was a love song and not his usual Rastafarian-driven lyrics. In 2010, Luciano released United States of Africa, his most political album, which dealt with global events and issues. With 19 studio albums, including his 2011 effort, Rub-A-Dub Market, Luciano is a powerful and widely recognizable figure in reggae music.
