»Marc Cohn

April 25, 2015 8:00 PM

Marc Cohn is an American singer/songwriter known for his piano playing and emotive adult-contemporary ballads. Signed by Atlantic Records in 1989, the Cleveland-based musician proceeded to release an eponymous debut LP in 1991 that won him hits such as "Walking in Memphis" and "True Companion," in addition to a Grammy award for Best New Artist. Cohn is a singer/songwriter in the classic, unflashy mold that launched plenty of careers throughout the 1970s and beyond. His songs combine the introspective, gentle feel of vintage Van Morrison with a touch of the gruff, self-assured intonation of songwriters such as Bruce Springsteen and Steve Earle. In 2005, Cohn had a brush with tragedy when he was shot during an attempted carjacking. Luckily, the bullet only grazed his head and caused no serious damage, allowing him to continue his run as one of America's more valued folk-rock songwriters.

»Ida Mcbeth

April 25, 2015 8:30 PM

Whether she's singing jazz standards, Broadway show tunes or bluesy ballads, Ida McBeth's music is always characterized by her greatest strength--her voice. Born and raised in Kansas City, she became interested in singing at just five years of age, obsessed by the Gladys Knight and Nat King Cole albums her mother would play for her growing up. A committed passion to her craft led her to study the wide breadth of pop music history over the years, which has helped establish her reputation as an eclectic vocalist who's never limited to just one or two styles of singing. McBeth's bold, versatile voice has served her well in a career that led to an entrance into the Kansas City-based International Jazz Hall of Fame in 1984.

NEEDTOBREATHE is an alternative/Christian rock band from Seneca, SC that was formed by brothers Bear and Bo Rinehart. The Rineharts began playing music together while attending their father's church camp, and during their college years, Bo dedicated himself to guitar while Bear focused on vocals, guitar and piano. The brothers were soon joined by bassist Seth Bolt and drummer Joe Stillwell to form NEEDTOBREATHE. After recording several EPs, the band came to the attention of Atlantic Records in 2005. The band released its debut album Daylight, in 2006, and the band's success grew steadily with each of its following releases. NEEDTOBREATHE released its fourth album, The Reckoning, in 2011 and subsequently reached a mainstream fan base while traveling with Taylor Swift for the North America segment of her Speak Now World Tour.
