The Athenaeum Rectory was formerly a clergy house for the Columbia Female Institute. The building structure was completely constructed in 1837 and has adapted the Gothic and Moorish styles of architecture. Incorporated in the National Register of Historic Places, this recently refurbished building hosts exhibitions on a regular basis.
The People's Church Franklin is the main campus of a two-site Southern Baptist mega church serving both Franklin and Spring Hill, Tennessee. A wide range of traditional educational ministries for children, youth and adults are available, as well as unique musical opportunities through KidsPraise and ShineOut. The People's Church hosts a variety of support services including recovery groups for divorce and grief, support groups for parents, marriage and family counseling, and prayer ministries. Founded in 1937, the Franklin Theatre screens blockbusters and art cinemas since long. Though a popular movie theater in town, owing to financial constraints the venue had to close its doors in 2007. However, the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County took the initiative to revive this landmark and soon the Franklin Theatre resumed full-fledged operations. Now, it is more than just your regular cinema house and hosts concerts, shows and similar events on a regular basis. The theater is the foremost LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)-certified project and continues to implement conservation policies like water efficiency and energy saving.
Franklin is filled with buildings of historical significance. One of these structures is The Factory. This was the former home of the Dortch Stove Works, Magic Chef, and later the Jamison Bedding Company. A National Historic Landmark, it is now home to shopping and meeting spaces. Specialty shops such as art galleries, fashion boutiques and photographer's studios fill the storefronts inside. Meeting space is available in three areas, accommodating up to 5,000 people and perfect for a wedding or business conference.
The Boiler Room Theatre is the first resident professional theater in Williamson County. Located inside a space in the popular, historic Factory Mall in Franklin, this intimate setting is the perfect venue for an up-close and personal look at the theater. Unlike the larger venues in downtown Nashville, this particular Franklin theater offers guests the best of both worlds - great performances, along with wonderful nearby restaurants and free parking. Church of the Good Shepherd is a welcoming Episcopal church located in Brentwood, Tennessee.
