The Butler Bulldogs represents the athletic programs and intercollegiate teams of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. An NCAA Division I school, the university competed in the Atlantic 10 Conference until 2013, when it joined the Big East. Butler's men's basketball team has amassed a solid track record that includes back-to-back Final Four appearances at the NCAA March Madness Tournament in 2010 and 2011. Other men's and women's sports programs offered by the university include baseball, softball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming and tennis.

John Mellencamp (born October 7th, 1951 in Seymour, Indiana) is an American singer/songwriter known for his long, successful recording and performing career that was highlighted by a series of 1980s hits, including "Jack and Diane." Mellencamp has always been socially and politically active and supported the “Vote for Change” Tour in 2004, opposing the policies of President George W. Bush. Mellencamp is a devout evangelical Christian and strongly believes in non-violence; he has spoken about his beliefs frequently in interviews. He currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana.
