Uranium Drive-In Thursday, February 5, 2015 (6:30-9:15 p.m.)  6:30-7:00 Reception featuring local resources  7:00-8:25 Uranium Drive-In film screening  8:25-9:15 Expert presentation followed by Q&A Uranium Drive-In follows a proposed uranium mill in southwestern Colorado the first to be built in the U.S. in 30 years and the emotional debate pitting a population desperate for jobs and financial stability against an environmental group based in a nearby resort town. Without judgment, both sides of the issue are brought to life in heart-wrenching detail as the film follows conflicting opinions and visions for the future. Learn more about this film. Organizations to be featured during the reception include Dovetail Solar and Wind, The Ohio Environmental Council, The Ohio State Universitys Office of Energy & Environment, and The Ohio State University Office of Sustainability and Energy Services. Concessions and a cash bar with be available during the event. Guests must present a photo ID during check-in at the Box Office.    Dr. Richard S. Denning, Consultant, will present "Nuclear Power Risks and Promises," an exploration of the benefits and challenges of nuclear power, including topics such as the impacts of uranium mining, safety concerns related to generators, nuclear waste disposal and the potential impacts that nuclear power could have on the future of climate change.   About The Presenter: Dr. Denning spend most of his career at Battelle Memorial Institute before joining the Ohio State University faculty in 1999. He chaired the Nuclear Engineering Program at the Ohio State University from July 1999 to June 2001 and from March 2006 to June 2007. He has recently examined the societal risk of nuclear power plant accidents with regard to the potential for land contamination in comparison with other societal risks. He is currently studying the exhaustion of fossil fuels and the future alternatives for energy supply.
