Bachman Lake is a man-made lake was originally to be Dallas' water source, but that idea was later rejected because the lake was too small. Today this lake is perfect for fishing and sailing. This former home to Dallas Chaparrals is the official arena of Brookahven college. A multi packed arena, plays host to the Dallas Defenders in the Premier Basketball League and promises entertainment right down to the wire.
Located inside the upscale Galleria Mall, this ice rink is a great place to spend the afternoon. Adults and children alike will enjoy burning excess energy here. While hockey is not allowed, skating lessons are available to the general public daily; it always helps to get a few pointers before sliding out there on your own! Open daily 10am onwards.
Take to the ice in the middle of the Galleria Dallas. This unique ice skating rink is located in the center of the mall and is surrounded by four levels of grand shopping. The Center offers "broomball," beginner to advanced skating lessons, open public skating sessions, and has provisions for private parties. Rental equipment is available at a nominal charge. This is a great place for children to use up some of their inexhaustible energy or as a terrific family outing.
Northwest Park encompasses a beautiful lake and has a few waterside trails. It also has courts and fields for practicing team sports and lies adjacent to the Northwest Park Recreation Center, a public sports facility.
This four hole Bermuda grass course was designed by owner Scott Erwin and built in 1992. It offers a respectable and challenging small course convenient to north central Dallas. The course features water in play and a 266-yard front tree/522 back tree yardage. There is a lighted putting green and driving range adjoining the course. Scotty's Golf Park also features a bar serving wine and beer and a snack bar restaurant with sandwiches and fried finger-foods.
Stretching almost eight miles to the West of Dallas, Trinity River Greenbelt is an understated and important slice of the city's history. This verdant stretch of tree-lined river was responsible for the settling of the nearby metropolis, originally starting as an army encampment along the shady banks of the Trinity.
