    Asbury Grove Historic District

Originally built by the Methodist Church in 1857 to provide an area for religious camp meetings, the Asbury Grove is still active today. Covering 83 acres (33 hectares), the verdant grounds provides the perfect meeting place for worship services, social gatherings, theater productions and sporting events. Not much has changed in the layout of the grounds since its first opening and it still adheres to the circular plan which was popular for camp meetings in the mid-19th Century. There are 153 cottages on the grounds - 100 of which have retained their historical characteristics. Although the land belongs to the Methodist Church, most of the cottages are privately owned and the owners are known to rent them out as summer or winter residences.
