Jay Ramsey and Jerry Brown, who were part of the group The Expressions during the 1960s and '70s, have returned to the stage in a new incarnation as The Back in Time Blues Band, and they haven't missed a beat. Returning to the Pocket Sandwich stage after sellout performances in 2013, the group will be joined by special guest stars Kirby St. Romain and Bob Kelly for a night of jammin' tunes both old and new.
Recognizable for his long white hair, a long white beard, aviator sunglasses and signature large straw cowboy hat, Leon Russell is singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Lawton, OK. Despite his rock and roll appearance, Russell creates tasteful piano rock, in the same vein as Billy Joel or Elton John. Initially getting his start in the 1960s as a studio pianist working with an impressive list of musicians and producers including Phil Spector, The Beach Boys and The Byrds, he managed to evolve as a respectable solo musician in the 1970s by making catchy, instrumentally-adept, country-tinged music. While his notoriety has undoubtedly ebbed since his 1970 self-titled debut album, Russell is still releasing music and playing shows to audiences who aren't keen on the idea of forgetting the musician's time-tested talent.

Originated as a genre of country music that is unique to Oklahoma, Red Dirt music (named in reference to the state's colorful soil) is a hybrid of several American styles, including blues, Southern rock and Western swing. The members of Jason Boland & the Stragglers, despite now living in Texas, were born and raised in Oklahoma, and therefore pride themselves on recreating the Red Dirt sound. The band formed in the late 1990s and performs its neotraditionalist country style via a combination of classic and modern instrumentation that includes pedal steel, fiddle, electric guitar and drums. Boland himself sings with a mellow twang that takes influence from popular outlaw country singers such as Merle Haggard and Johnny Paycheck. The band's debut album, Pearl Snaps, was released in 1999.
