Sebastian Philip Bierk is a heavy metal vocalist from Canada who performs and releases music under the moniker Sebastian Bach. After playing in a number of short-lived metal outfits, Bach joined Skid Row as lead vocalist in 1987 once Matt Fallon left the band. He eventually left the band in 1996 and formed a super group called The Last Hard Men with The Breeders lead guitarist Kelley Deal, Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and Frogs Guitarist Jimmy Flemion. The new project recorded a self-titled LP and released it in 1998 with Deal's label, Nice Records. Bach dropped his first solo album in 1999 titled Bring 'Em Bach Alive!, which included a fusion of original recordings and Skid Row material. Though he continued to form new project throughout the 2000s, he also made his way onto television with shows such as SuperGroup, as well as onto Broadway, starting with his 2000 debut as the title role in Jekyll & Hyde.
Despite a tumultuous career full of brushes with the law and more than a few stylistic missteps, R. Kelly has managed to solidify himself as one the predominant forces of contemporary R&B. Born in Chicago in 1967, Kelly initially entered the music world as a member of the early 1990s group, Public Announcement. It didn't take him long to decide to branch out on his own, however, and in 1993 he released his debut LP, 12 Play. Working within the scope of everything from lite funk and slow jams, to hip-hop and soul, Kelly's career has always retained a chameleon-like ability to adjust to evolving musical styles and tastes. Casual fans may know him as the singer of popular hits such as "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Ignition," but it's the stranger, more ambitious aspects of Kelly's catalog (such as his 22 chapter hip-hopera, Trapped in the Closet) that have kept him an intriguingly enigmatic figure well into the 21st Century. In addition to his solo work, Kelly has produced, remixed, collaborated with or written songs for the likes of Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Mary J. Blige and Whitney Houston.
Hailing from Red Lion, PA Halestrom is a rock band that was formed in 1998 by the brother and sister pair Lzzy and Arejay Hale, who began writing songs together when they were 13 and 10, respectively. With their father on bass, Lzzy and Arejay released Halestorm's debut EP Don't Mess With the Time Man in 2000, before bassist Josh Smith and guitarist Joe Hottinger joined the lineup in 2003. Shortly after releasing its 2012 album The Strange Case Of..., in 2012, Halestrom made history as the first female-fronted band to take the number one spot on the active rock chart for its song "Love Bites... (So Do I)."
