Touted to be one of the fastest growing cities in Georgia, Douglasville's downtown area also has the distinction of being listed as a National Heritage Site. Douglas County Courthouse is located at Douglasville, Georgia, United States. It is an old courthouse now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The courthouse is home to the Douglas County Museum of History and Art. The museum has exhibits of mid 20th-century like displays of cocktail shakers, school lunchboxes, children's phonographs, and items from a personal collection of Coca Cola articles.
This 2549-acre (1031.54-hectare) park is particularly noted for its populations of birds, butterflies and wildflowers. Hiking trails are laid throughout, and pass such interesting spots as the George Sparks Reservoir and the ruins of a cotton factory destroyed during the Civil War. Canoe and fishing boat rentals are available, as well as a bait shack, restrooms, and historical information. Take home some souvenirs from the gift shop, located at the visitors center.
Six Flags Over Georgia is a thrilling attraction located about 20 minutes to the west of the Atlanta city. Carousels have been around for quite sometime now but the Riverview Carousel which is inside the Six Flags Over theme park in Atlanta is a rather special one. It is made of 60 horses which are carefully hand-crafted and was delivered to the theme park in 1908. Since then, it has been delighting people of all ages from toddlers to groups of friends gallivanting around and even romantic couples. Riverview Carousel is also one of the only 3 five-abreast horses carousels known in existence.
Located in a secluded clearing on the banks of a picturesque lake, The Cabin Path offers a wonderful outdoor experience. It has a log cabin that offers a comfortable place to camp, alongwith several hiking trails for the adventurous. Visitors can explore the surrounding countryside rich with rhododendrons, wildflowers and deer. the lake is a pleasant place for leisurely fishing. A walk through the maze built here is supposed to calm your nerves. Numerous activities are also held from time to time.
The Elizabeth Baptist Church located in Atlanta is a Christ-centered and family-oriented retreat. The church has a full-fledged ministry overlooking the daily functioning of the congregation. Standing by the meandering Chattahoochee river, this beautiful expanse is the pride of the historic neighborhood of Whittier Mill Village. While it doesn't sport fancy landscaping or sports facilities, Whittier Mill Park is popular in the city for it's vibrant local scene. The Smyrna Market Village is a downtown neighborhood of Smyrna that is a landmark in urban design and landscaping. Predominantly pedestrian-centric in design, it was established in 2002. Lined with 16 town houses, it is also home to the City Hall and the City Library, amongst other important structures. With an good line up of retail and commercial space, it is a popular shopping district of the city.
The Siloam Church International was established in 1997. It has a membership of around 3000 people. The church aims to spread the message of Christ and promote oneness among everyone. It organizes community events too.
