    »Cabinet

    October 31, 2014 8:00 PM

Cabinet is a bluegrass/Americana act from Scranton, Pennsylvania that claims that their music can be described with three essential bywords: soul, simplicity and serious musicianship. Indeed, the band does take its bluegrass quite seriously, and the resulting music shows that Cabinet's six members exude a genuine love for the genre with its soaring harmonies and fast moving rhythms. Since forming in 2006, Cabinet has recently begun to make a name for itself on the national stage, leading many to proclaim the Scranton band to be one of the country's most promising up-and-coming bluegrass acts.

    »Steve Forbert

    October 31, 2014 8:00 PM

One might be tempted to pigeon-hole Steve Forbert as one of the many one-hit wonders from the 80s, and while that might be true to a certain extent, most people know little about his truly impressive songwriting apart from his hit single from 1980, "Romeo's Tune." Forbert's songwriting and vocal talents led many critics to hail him as being a Bob Dylan-esque type figure, and though a few twists of fate may have kept him from becoming as commercially successful as Mr. Dylan, many notable artists like Roseanne Cash, Keith Urban and Mary Stuart still perform Forbert's songs to much success and acclaim.

    »Robin Trower

    October 31, 2014 8:00 PM

During the mid to late 1960s there was an explosion of blues-centric rock music in England. Musicians were incorporating the garage rock ethos of the new American style with musical influences that were popular in England at the time to create an amalgamation of sound that was unlike anything that most people had heard. One of the more noted guitarists from this period is Robin Trower. The Brit originally got his start playing six string with the group Procol Harum, but after feeling the trappings of group confines, Trower launched a solo career that has let him dictate his own musical journey. Trower is also in high demand as a touring musician and he has played with several well known figures from the music world like Bryan Ferry and Jack Bruce.

    »The Glass Menagerie

    October 31, 2014 8:00 PM

Few theatrical debuts have more loudly trumpeted a writer's genius than "The Glass Menagerie", Tennessee Williams' first successful play. Tom Wingfield is a poet struggling with a mind-numbing job and a smothering home life. His overbearing mother, a former Southern belle, constantly pushes her son to bring home "gentleman callers" for his painfully shy sister. When Tom finally produces a male visitor, the guest's presence sends shockwaves through the family -- and the fragile fantasy world they've built is irreparably cracked. Full of poetry and longing, this production of "The Glass Menagerie" is directed by Barrymore Award winner James J. Christy ("The Woman in Black") and performed by some of Philadelphia's finest actors.
