    Pope House Museum was once owned by Dr. M.T. Pope who was a prominent African-American citizen of Raleigh, North Carolina. Pope had installed then cutting-edge gadgets in his house like gas and electric fixtures, running water, a telephone, and a call bell system. This house features on the National Register of Historic Places.

The large, non-descript building houses a three-story lobby with a contemporary style winding staircase, three exhibition galleries and more than 40 artists at work in open studios. A variety of mediums such as clay, metal, mixed media and paint are used. Lectures, classes for all ages, exhibitions and demonstrations offer plenty to fill an afternoon. General admission is free. Classes and exhibits may carry a fee.
