»Julian Casablancas

January 14, 2015 6:00 AM

As lead singer for the New York garage rock revival outfit The Strokes, Julian Casablancas was the the epitome of everyone's idealized notion of what a front man should be. His rock star swagger and flippant attitude toward the music industry worked perfectly and cememted his place in rock history. In 2009, during The Strokes' hiatus, Casablancas released an album of solo material which is clearly influenced by a nolstalgic '80s electronic sound and is made up of more free-flowing songs than his hits The Strokes.

»Cyndi Lauper

January 15, 2015 6:00 PM

Cyndi Lauper has a reputation for being a bit unusual. She's known for dressing in wacky clothes, dying her hair unconventional colors and having a quirky demeanor. But all strangeness aside, Lauper makes calculated pop music that's memorable and more often than not extremely feminine. Though Lauper's success peaked in the mid-1980s, the songstress is still carrying on playing new material as well as the hits that rose her to notoriety.

»Vamps

February 07, 2015 6:00 PM

The Japanese Goth rock duo Vamps was formed after two musicians were collaborating in their free time for a few years. After a period of time, both musicians realized that what they were doing together was better than their respective solo endeavors and decided to officially form a band together and go on a national tour before releasing an album. The duo organized the tour themselves, setting up shows at all of Japan's famous Zepp live houses, played a total of 46 performances, selling out every one. Known for its stage presence and graffiti art decorations at each venue, Vamps made a name for itself and subsequently released two hugely successful albums. The band now is working on spreading its success to the US and Europe.

»Motley Crue

February 12, 2015 7:00 PM

If you lived on the Sunset Strip in Los Angles during the late 1980s you undoubtedly knew the guys from Motley Crue. The hard living life style that characterized Hollywood in the 1980s was perfectly manifested in the group and the band partied extremely hard--flippantly breaking laws and abusing drugs. Despite a period of time apart, playing in various other musical endeavors, the Crue is back and despite being a bit older, the band still plays as hard as ever.
