»First Congregational Church of Chester

Hillside Road in Chester Borough is home to the First Congregational Church. Spread across a land cover of 2.3 acres (0.9 hectares), the celebrated Greek Revival church building was constructed in 1856. Sunday morning worship begins at 10:30a while the adult Sunday School commences at 9:15a. Youth Confirmation class is another highlight of the Church. Built in Greek Revival style of architecture, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on August 10, 1977.

Founded as Roxbury Reform Temple in 1960, Temple Shalom is a part of the Union For Reform Judaism. They moved to its present location in 1965 and is spread across four and a half acres (1.82 hectares). The complex features an airy sanctuary, a spacious social hall, library, kitchen, administration offices, classrooms, a meeting room and a youth lounge. A major attraction is a grist mill that was originally built in the year 1825 and once served as the town’s library.
