Fishbone is an alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles that helped pave the way for the third wave ska and ska punk movements of the 1990s. Originally forming around 1979, Fishbone's ever-changing lineup has seen many members come and go over the years. Angelo Moore (aka Dr. Madd Vibe), however, has remained a constant and is the founder, lead singer and saxophonist of the group. Fishbone's hybrid of distorted guitars, bouncy horn line sections and the choppy upstroke strumming of reggae and ska made the band an underground favorite throughout the 1980s. Once the following decade's ska revival ignited, Fishbone garnered some attention from new fans after groups such as Reel Big Fish and No Doubt started singing its praises.
