Located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the Crystal Springs Reservoir consists of two artificial lakes. The Upper Crystal Springs Reservoir was formed in 1877 after a dam was completed and in in 1888 the Lower Crystal Springs Reservoir was formed after the Crystal Springs Dam was completed. The lakes are home to giant rainbow trout and bass, while the surrounding area has rare plants such as San Mateo thornmint and San Mateo Woolly Sunflowers. The reservoir is closed to the public but there are hiking trails around the water.

Tee times can be arranged up to seven days in advance. Golf lessons are available, as are libations at the on-site restaurant and bar. San Andreas Lake is a San Francisco Bay Area reservoir. The San Andreas fault, the 810 miles (1,300 km) long California earthquake fault, was actually named after this lake. San Andreas Lake was originally much smaller, but grew in size after a dam was constructed. The lake itself is closed to the public, but there are trails around the water that are perfect for biking and hiking.

Edgewood Park In Redwood City consists of numerous trails, one of which is the Clarkia Trailhead. It is so named for the pink Clarkia flowers that grow during the latter parts of spring. It is frequented by horse riders and hikers, although cycling is not allowed along this trail. It is also dotted by other flowering varieties such as Owl's Clover, bright red poppies, yellow Tidy Tips and Goldfields. Visitors might also spot a few animals and birds if they are lucky. This trail does not allow pets like dogs and prohibits the picking of flowers.
The Old Woodside Store on Tripp Road is actually a wooden cabin that was once used as a dentist clinic, a general store and a post office. Tracing its history to October of 1849, the charming old wooden structure is now home to authentic historic artifacts that chronicle the lumbering history of Woodside, CA. Although admission to the cabin is free, a donation of 2 USD is suggested. There are many educational programs hosted here that provide fun activities for the entire family and shed light on the local history and culture.
