Noel Coward's sparkling comedy "Blithe Spirit" is reinvented as a sassy and sly '60s musical. In Coward's tale, writer Charles Condomine and his new wife are bedeviled by the mischievous spirit of the author's first wife, the deceased Elvira. Eccentric medium Madame Arcati conjures up the naughty ghost and endeavors to send her back to the other world. The original 1964 production on Broadway, directed by Noel Coward himself, was nominated for 8 Tony Awards, including Best Actress, Best Musical and Best Director.

»Palo Alto Players Present Harvey

November 22, 2014 8:00 PM

Starring the most famous rabbit the world has never seen, "Harvey" is, at its generous heart, the story of a man and his best friend. The man in question is Elwood P. Dowd, drinker, dreamer and darn nice guy. And his boon companion is "Harvey" who, in addition to being charming company, happens to be an invisible six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch tall rabbit. The mix-ups and merriment inspired by Harvey's "presence" form the core of Mary Chase's Pulitzer Prize-winning play (it won in 1945, beating Tennessee William's "The Glass Menagerie"). Adapted into a 1950 movie starring Jimmy Stewart in one of his most iconic roles, "Harvey" returns to the stage in a fresh production from Palo Alto Players.
