The Bach Dancing & Dynamite Society calls the iconic Douglas Beach House on Mirada Road home. The place offers several dance recitals, live music concerts and many other cultural programs throughout the year. The not-for-profit organization is quite famous for its jazz and classical music concerts and its enviable ocean-front location adds to the success of events held here. The Coastal Repertory Theater is a non-profit community theater run by volunteers and stands out like a beacon of passion and quality on the California coast. It hosts a number of concerts, musicals, dramas, comedy shows and performances which are both entertaining and thought-provoking. At this theater, one can volunteer in the departments of hospitality, costumes, props and technical services. Its Youth Theater holds a number of classes and summer camps to provide theater and production training to children and youth, right from four to 20 years of age.
Bayview Dining Room is situated within the College of San Mateo. It offers a beautiful banquet room, which is often decorated with tables covered with white cloths and pink roses for engagements and wedding receptions. Its auditorium theater is suitable for conducting workshops, corporate events and birthday parties while its heated terrace affords breathtaking views of the San Francisco Bay Area. Just off Highway 101 in San Mateo is the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Adjacent to San Mateo High School, don't let the basketball courts and '60s "California public school architecture" fool you. The largest venue of its kind between San Francisco and San Jose, the theater seats 1,600 and brings world class theater to the South Bay, thanks in large part to "Broadway by the Bay" productions staged here.
San Mateo County Event Center with seven buildings in all, is spread over a whopping 48 acres. Automobile, jewelery and other trade shows are held here on a regular basis. The internet giant Yahoo's Christmas Party celebrations have been one of the most popular events that take place at this expo center. Mahany Hall is situated within the Fully Alive Community Church, which is an unconventional church stressing on unorthodox pathways of spirituality. This hall serves as a local event venue and is supported by the San Carlos Lions Club. It regularly hosts local community and small-scale cultural functions and events. These include lectures, meetings, bingo sessions and annual events.
Main Stage Theater at Cañada College plays hosts to great theater performances and most of these revolve around social causes. Located inside the Cañada College; the theater is very well furnished with comfortable seating spaces and can accommodate more than 500 people. It is well maintained and has great acoustics and lighting. Eclectic mix of performances by college students as well as theater groups and production houses from outside makes every play worth watching at the Main Stage Theater. The William E. Walker Center is nestled within the Leo J. Ryan Memorial Park, on the Shell Boulevard. The multifunctional facility provides a volley of recreational activities and socio-cultural programs for residents from peripheral communities of Foster City.
