Located in the heart of the city, the sprawling Wicker Memorial Park offers some of the best recreational facilities in the city. »Carlson Oxbow Park

Carlson Oxbow Park is a wetland nature park located on the Little Calumet River. Originally intended for flood control measures, the area was turned into a park in 1998 after the river was straightened. Today, the park is a natural oasis, home to a rich variety of native wildlife, including the woodchuck and eastern cottontail rabbit as well as bird species like the house wren and blue winged teal. Hiking and fishing are some of the most popular activities as the park.
