The Hot Springs National Park gets its name from the fact that the town built and grew surrounded by and in the midst of hot springs. People have used this water for therapeutic baths to heal illness for thousands of years. The park includes portions of downtown Hot Springs, making it one of the most easily accessible national parks in the country. Interesting places to visit include the historic Fordyce Bathhouse, Bathhouse Row and visits to the still functioning bathhouses, both traditional and modern.
