Azuma on the Lake serves great Japanese food. The sushi here is excellent, with some really innovative rolls. But the food is not the only reason why you should be dining here. The restaurant is located by the river and offers a gorgeous view. The Calamari, Ebi Tempura and the Smoked Salmon/kunsei Sake go perfectly well with that beautiful view!
Maggie Moo's is a magical place particularly for young children, but certainly for adults of all ages as well. Stop in after either lunch or dinner for countless chunky combinations of mix-ins, laced throughout silky smooth frozen dairy goodness. Create your own perfect mixture, like Vanilla Bean with firm blackberries and squeaky walnuts, or mix your favorite candy bar with your favorite ice cream flavor. You can also order your ice cream cakes and cupcakes here, and Mint Chocolate Chip never fails. Fear not health freaks, they also have several frozen yogurt options too.
Named after the historical skeleton found in Ethiopia, Lucy's Ethiopian Restaurant and Lounge is a trendy establishment in Houston. Dim lighting, sheer curtains, Ethiopian art, comfy couches and low coffee tables characterize this popular eatery. The menu features a wide variety of Ethiopian cuisine and is great for sharing among friends.
Dulce Tapioca is a tremendous little spot near First Colony Mall if you're looking for a refreshing pick-me-up or a between-meal snack. Stop in before your shopping spree and get your nutritious and delicious energy in a cup. Their various tapioca and milk tea drinks are common breakfasts or desserts in Southeast Asia, and are quickly becoming a hit in the US. Try the milk tea with tapioca pearls if you're new to the little colorful balls in your drink concept. It's wonderfully fresh and chewy at this place, as it should be. Otherwise, their regular old iced coffee is marvelous. -Adam Rosen
Tea Cake Factory is a lovely place to stop for a snack or drink, or simply kill some time. Drop by on the way to First Colony Mall for a little bite. They have plenty of fresh gourmet baked items, but the title character is simply delectable. A tea cake is a brilliant cross between bread and cake, often with dried fruit. Reminiscent of a sort of smooth scone, the sweet yeasty cake is perfect with tea or coffee at any time of day. Grab an assortment for the office (a nice change from fatty fried doughnuts everyday). You can get anything from blueberry or lemon to coconut cream and Snicker Doodles. Their Cupcakes are also divine.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is an upscale dining experience. The restaurant is famous for serving the best steaks, from the best cuts. When the weather is good, the gorgeous outdoor seating makes a great option if you are dining with friends. The restaurant also has several options for private dining. Some of the recommended dishes here are Prime Bone-In Cowboy Ribeye, Perry’s Famous Pork Chop and the Petite Surf & Turf. For those with a sweet tooth, the Mont Blanc a la Frisc is scrumptious!
Think brick and wood with a cozy, rustic appeal as you enter La Madeleine French Bakery. It is worth a visit to this West Houston bakery just to get a look at the fully functioning wooden waterwheel. As you would expect, the bakery items are delicious. What some do not realize is that the other offerings, such as the herb-roasted chicken and Caesar salad, are equally divine. If all that is not enough, the bakery also serves delicious breakfast items. And, to top it all off, the pricing is also impressive.

Giant over-stuffed chairs and large wooden tables give it an English pub flavor, and the beverage service is the best. It has enjoyed enormous popularity with the twenty-something set since 1977.
