»Centennial House

The oldest house in Corpus Christi is more that 100 years old. Built in 1849, it was the home of Senator Forbes Britton. Constructed by Berry Gravis and Yates with local brick and scored masonry, the house got its name from it's 100th anniversary in 1949. At the time it was built it was possible to view Mann's Wharf from the house, but after years of devastating hurricanes, during the early part of the 20th Century, the shoreline was moved farther east and the sea wall was built. Amazingly, it was weathered further storms and today it is possible to tour the facility for a look back at history.  Now open every first Sunday of the month. Call for special tours.
