February 27, 2015 8:00 PM

A wildly innovative musical theater experience, STOMP is a non-narrative immersion into percussion and dance. Using non-traditional objects to create intricate, pounding and overlapping rhythmic compositions, the show originated in Britain as a two-man dance troupe in the late 1980s. Since its West End debut in 1991, the show has developed into an international sensation with various satellite productions in cities around the world. Transcending generation, age and culture, STOMP brings a unique blend of urban style and tribal dance to the masses.

»The Contortionist

February 27, 2015 6:30 PM

The Contortionist is a progressive metal band from Indianapolis that was founded in 2007. Opting to incorporate a sound that requires adept musicianship on behalf of the band members, The Contortionist has attracted a certain type of adhearent listener who likes staunch metal, that's striped of any pretense or faux aesthetic sensibility. For the first few years after the band's formation, it gigged around the Mid West, where it sharpened it's sonic approach, before locking itself away in the studio to record its debut album, Exoplanet, which was release in 2010.

»The Floozies**16+*

February 27, 2015 8:00 PM

It's not uncommon to hear about how important improvisation is in a band's live performances. In The Floozies' case, however, entire sets can go from start-to-finish without a single pre-rehearsed idea coming into play. The group's impressively ingrained sense of musical interplay makes a bit more sense when you realize that it's the work of two brothers, Matt and Mark Hill. The experimental duo uses live drumming, electronic production and sound manipulation to create wildly unpredictable sound collages that bounce around from funk and disco, to dub and afrobeat. As the brothers have matured, they've started to embrace the benefits of putting together a rehearsed, well thought-out studio album--a technique that has won them numbers of new fans. Still, it's during live performances that The Floozies' knack for adventurous improv and sonic experimentation really shine though.
