Bainbridge island is a 65.02 sq mi (168.40 km2
) island located near Seattle on Puget Sound. The island has a long history, including serving as a base for George Vancouver during his local explorations in 1792, and then as a center of the logging industry. Today, many visitors to Seattle make Bainbridge Island a scenic day trip to visit the shops and cafes of the island, as well as the Bainbridge Island Winery.
