Central Norristown Historic District is a vast spread of about 1900 buildings located in the central business district. Named after Issac Norris, it has an L-shaped layout replete with establishments reminiscent of the state's industrial town in the 1900s. The district has a massive composition of row and duplex buildings, some of which residential while others used for commercial purposes. Norristown was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
Strafford Station is a railroad station which started operating in 1876. Owned by Amtrak, the Strafford station serves on the Paoli/Thorndale Line. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 owing to its historical and architectural importance.
The Pennsylvania Railroad Station is also famously referred as the Union Station or the Penn Station. The station was opened to the general public in 1903. Reconstructing of the station was undertaken in 1954 and 1988. The station stands as a historically significant railroad avenue at the Grant Street and Liberty Avenue in the region of Pittsburgh. The structuring of the station building is done in a way that depicts the Beaux Arts style of architecture. The monumental station also stands listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The South Wayne Historic District was formerly a vast expanse of farm that was developed between 1848 and 1853. This district features landmark buildings, structures and houses that include Charles & Glenne Weirich House, Lee & Joel Ninde House, Harry & Florence Lydick House and many more.
The Washington Fire Company No. 1 dates back to 1877 and is included in the National Register of Historic Places. Owing to a fire, it was decided that Conshohocken should have an independent fire company and hence this firm was founded.
Whether you're coming to watch a game or attend a graduation ceremony, you cannot miss the Pavilion's unusual paraboloid roof. Built in 1996, it's the official home ground of the Villanova Wildcats. Primarily a sports arena, it offers a vast array of facilities for athletes. There are four multipurpose courts, which are used for basketball, tennis as well as volleyball. You'll also find a five-track field and a long jump pit. The Pavilion hosts concerts, trade shows, college fairs and high school graduations. Sporting events, such as the Advanta International Tennis Championship and the NCAA Championship events are also held here.
