»Apollo Victoria

Designed by E.W. Lewis and W.E Trent in 1930, the Apollo Victoria Theatre originally opened as a cinema to cater to movie lovers. It was converted into a theater in the late 1970s and after several renovations, now boasts of a capacity of over 2000. Plays, musicals and comedies are staged here. So far, the arena has witnessed thousands of performances of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical, Starlight Express alone! Wheelchair spaces are available in the auditorium, but have to be booked well in advance. If you get hungry after a show, just step out and you will find scores of quaint eating joints close by. Victoria Palace has been on the current site since 1832. Initially it was a hotel with a concert room. In the early 20th Century, the structure was demolished to give way to the Victoria Palace Theatre. Since its establishment in 1911 it has been showing an array of performances. The theater mainly puts on musicals, examples are Grease, Fame, Tonight's the Night and Kiss Me, Kate. No dining facilities are available, but nearby restaurants offer pre-theatre dinners.
