»Lucy Rose

April 01, 2015 7:00 PM

Lucy Rose is a London-based singer/songwriter who writes mellow, light rock tunes. Though Rose's popularity was contained primarily to the London area throughout the late 2000s, her prominence grew in 2010 when she toured around Europe, introducing her delicate voice and sparse acoustic guitar style to a wide audience. Her airy female singer/songwriter material resonated well with music fans looking for tender indie rock songs, and by the time Rose released her debut album Like I Used To, in 2012, she had signed a contract with Columbia Records and collaborated with artists such as Bombay Bicycle Club.

Aaron Bruno is a musician who makes a unique style of electronic-influenced singer/songwriter material under his AWOLNATION guise. Debuting the project in 2010 with his EP, Back from Earth, Bruno managed to catch the ear of potential listeners with a unique style of industrial-tinged electropop that's bolstered by his hearty voice. Though Bruno isn't exactly pushing boundaries or breaking barriers with his sound, attuned listeners can undoubtedly find comfort in many of AWOLNATION's easy to like choruses and memorable electro beats.

»Lee 'Scratch' Perry

April 01, 2015 7:00 PM

Often considered the father of reggae and dub, as well as an early innovator of sampling, Lee Scratch Perry is a widely revered name in the music world. After releasing a few popular singles in Jamaica in the 1960s, Perry went on to build a backyard production studio, The Black Ark, and began mixing and producing the work of such notable artists as Bob Marley, Junior Murvin and The Heptones. Gaining a reputation for some personality quirks that often caused Perry to have falling outs with many of the people he worked with, Perry eventually let The Black Ark fall apart, claiming to have finally burned it to the ground. This led Perry to focus less on production work and more on music, and after being featured in multiple popular and independent artists' music in the 1980s, Perry began to receive the widespread attention that he still enjoys today.
