»Naval Museum of Armament & Technology

The Naval Museum of Armament & Technology is an interesting place to visit as it explains the history of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake and the advances in Naval aviation made since then. Displayed in the museum are artefacts and models made since 1955, film, photographs, documents and other records. One can see a range of missiles like Tomahawk, and also other jets and planes and nuclear weapons that are placed in the outdoor area. Volunteers give an informative tour of the facility and one can buy some trinkets from the gift shop.

»Goldwell Open Air Museum

Albert Szukalski was a remarkable Belgian artists, who, in 1984 created the "The Last Supper" sculpture in the deserts of Rhyolite, when the surrounding area was just an abandoned railway station. After the death of Szukalski, the Goldwell Open Air Museum came into existence. "The Last Supper" is a ghost-like representation of Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting and is one of the most popular attractions of the museum. This sculpture was created using live models draped in wet plaster. Another similar sculpture at the museum is the "Ghost Rider", again a plaster-covered burlap structure, this time attempting to ride a bike. "Desert Flower", "Lady Desert", "Sit Here!" are other sculptures at the museum. Albeit eerie, this museum is surely fascinating.
