Comfort Inn Yosemite Valley Gateway, a Mariposa Hotel near California Gold Country

The Comfort Inn® Yosemite Valley Gateway hotel in Mariposa, CA is located near the junction of California's famous Highway 49, known as California's Golden Chain, and State Route 140, the all-year access to the west entrance of Yosemite Valley and Yosemite National Park. The park is open all year. Mariposa is at the southern end of the Mother Lode and has a rich history. The Mariposa County Courthouse, California State Mining and Mineral Museum, Mariposa Museum & History Center and the Historic Mariposa County Jail remind visitors of a colorful past.

Historic downtown Mariposa is within walking distance of the hotel and provides a variety of shopping and dining experiences in buildings dating from the exciting days of the California Gold Rush of 1849. Be sure to visit Bett's Gold Coin tavern in a historic adobe building over 150 years old. Directions to all of Mariposa's historic attractions are available at the front desk.

The YARTS bus service runs from Merced through Mariposa to Yosemite National Park. Tickets are sold at the front desk. Mariposa is about one hour away from Yosemite Valley. Part of the highway follows the Merced River, which offers fine fishing and seasonal rafting. Seasonal winter activities such as ice skating and skiing at Badger Pass Ski Area are available in Yosemite.

You are invited to enjoy a selection of historic photographs of Mariposa and Yosemite on display in the lobby and breakfast room, as well as current photographic art of Yosemite and Mariposa County. This display, along with historic books, are available for purchase.
