The Fortieth Street Bridge is also known as the Washington Crossing Bridge. It is built across the Allegheny River and it connects Lawrenceville with Millvale (Pittsburgh areas). Built in 1982, it handles the vehicular traffic and is named after George Washington, as the bridge is located at a site where an important event pertaining to his career occurred.
