The Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord is a landmark in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY. This historic cathedral was erected between 1916 and 1921 and was later listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The founders of this parish were immigrants to America from present-day Poland. This building is one of the only examples of Byzantine Revival architecture in the state. Owing to its Russian lineage, the cathedral is designed with five domes, each mounted with gilded Orthodox crosses. The breathtaking interiors are replete with golden walls, high arched ceilings and intricate stained-glass paintings. It continues to be of great historic and cultural importance.
