Emerging out of the smoky and whiskey soaked nightclubs in Madrid, The Clams is an R&B group made up of eight women. All of the members changed their last names to include Clam, à la The Ramones, resulting in the cohesive line up of Aida Clam, Clam Monica, Diana Clam, Carola Clam, Lila Clam, Lupe Clam, Henar Clam, Marina Clam. The Clams' salty brand of R&B is driven by pure vocal talent, though all eight of its members play an instrument, and packed with powerhouse vocals, the group has successfully covered classics by Etta James, Barbara Lynn and even Ray Charles. For a group that describes its self as a band of fugitives and desperate women, The Clams have manged to shake up Spain with its music and classic sex appeal.
