    »Ventana Wines

    This winery has won more awards than any other winery in the country, the Dry Chenin Blanc and the Riesling being the biggest winners. The same team of winemakers has been here for over two decades and the aesthetic is European with a California flavor. The winery carries a wide stock of whites, reds and varietals. The property also has a retail store and a tasting room where you can sample the many award-winning wines. The winery grows their own grapes and in the last decade has planted over half a million new vines.

    »Dennis the Menace Park

    This famous Monterey playground is located in the El Estero Park. First opened in 1956, the park has undergone various renovations with the most recent in 2005. Named after the comic character by Hank Ketchum, the park features a toddler area and larger slides and structures meant for older children. A maze with a lookout tower, climbing wall, suspension bridge and statue of Dennis himself, this park is full of fun for kids of all ages.

    »Stevenson House

    This two level, brick house has been a refuge for many artists, families, writers and people from all walks of life during the early 18th-century. The French House as it was called then was the abode of famous Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson where he courted his to-be wife. This is where he wrote the "Old Pacific Capital," and was inspired to pen the “Treasure Island.” To save it from the verge of destruction, it was bought by two women who in turn gifted it to the state to make it a memorial. Today the Stevenson House has many memorabilia that includes furniture, first edition books and personal belongings of the writer.

    »Larkin House

    Situated on Calle Principale in Monterey, California is the historic Larkin House. It was constructed in 1835 by Thomas O. Larkin. The year 1933 marked the inclusion of the house as a state historical landmark. Initially, it was touted to be the first house in Monterey with a fireplace. Adding further vitality to it is the fact that it was referred to as the first two story establishment in the whole of California. The superb structure boasts of the style of Spanish Colonial buildings coupled with modern architectural methods of New England. Over the years, the distinctive features and their preservation have resulted in upgrading the reputation of the Larkin House.

    »Custom House Plaza

    Located near the Fisherman’s Wharf, the Custom House Plaza is named after the historic Custom House that is located here. This building was built by the former Mexican administration in the 1820s, and was used for the collection of taxes. This plaza is a very prominent square in the city, and is the venue for several major events, like the Monterey Greek Festival. So, do pay a visit to this attraction when visiting the city.

    »Old Customhouse

    The Old Customhouse is a Spanish Colonial style home. This house is a local landmark, and was used for civic purposes of Monterey County. The one-story structure, with a balcony in the front, reflects the olden style homes. Built in 1827, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The family-owned operation has been in existence since 1925, and the tasting room in Cannery Row attracts many locals as well as tourists and wine connoisseurs. The winery's California Merlot and Chardonnay make up the Scenic Cellars Collection, and the varieties of reds and whites in the standard collection are impressive.

    »Congregation Beth Israel

    Congregation Beth Israel holds an important place in the Jewish community. This center has been the stronghold of the Carmel Jewish community since 1954. From children, to  teenagers, to adults, it brings them together through collective learning programs. Social events and festivals are regularly organized here. One of the most famous festival  organized here is the Jewish Food Festival and Crafts Fair. You can check their website for regular activities and hours of worship.
