Dead Winter Carpenters is a folk and jam rock outfit from Lake Tahoe. Like many bands of its ilk, the group plays a lively hybrid style of music that pulls from several different genres, including roots rock and Americana, to create impressive, jam-friendly tunes. Alongside the rollicking drums, vocal harmonies and combination of live and acoustic guitars, Dead Winter Carpenters' secret weapon comes in the form of Jenni Charles, whose lighting-quick fiddle playing will often command audience attention. The group has become a touring staple in the Southwest and along the West Coast, often performing at notable folk and jam rock music festivals.

Born into a large family of Irish-Americans, Sexton left home at 22 to busk on the streets, in an attempt to forge his own path separate from his siblings and start a music career. Eventually Sexton ended up in Massachusetts and by 1994 had received the Boston Music Award for Best New Artist, primarily due to the increasing popularity of his live shows where the singer/songwriter jumped from genre to genre, including the occasional beatboxing and scat. Primarily popular on the dad rock circuit today, Martin Sexton continues to garner awards and tour frequently.
