Tijuana Panthers

Tijuana Panthers is a three-piece rock band from Long Beach, California. Since its debut album in 2010, Max Baker, the band went on to become a Southern Californian underground legend, playing both packed concert halls and cozy backyards. Although Tijuana Panthers' music, at first, sounds like typical summery Californian rock, under the surface of each surf-tinged riff lays something a bit darker and distorted. Indeed, when looking closer, the sheer idiosyncrasies of the band come to light. Taking risks during the production process of its 2014 album Wayne Interest, the band was able to capture the compelling energy of its live performances.

God Of Carnage
Santa Maria Civic TheatreFebruary 13, 2015 7:00 PM
1660 N. McClelland St.
Santa Maria, CA 93454
Written by French playwright Yasmina Reza, God of Carnage made its debut in Switzerland in 2006 before coming to London's West End in 2008 for a run that would earn the production an Olivier award and three Tony awards the following year. The story revolves around a schoolyard incident of violence between two children that sparks a meeting between their parents. The ensuing encounter results in a chaotic conversation that touches on subjects of violence, chauvinism, racial anxiety and homophobia. Upper middle-class living is explored in this daring, evocative and hilarious evening of theater, which has enjoyed wild success in both New York and London. Reza's tack-sharp wit and gutsy skill with the pen attribute themselves to this fanged excavation of what lies beneath normative complacency when the gloves are off.

Zion I
SLO Brewing CompanyFebruary 14, 2015 7:00 PM
1119 Garden Street
San Luis Obispo, CA 93401
Oakland duo Zion I - consisting of DJ AmpLive and MC Zumbi - became interested in hip hop during its formation in the late 80s, scribbling lyrics during class and playing around with their family radios and computers after school. In 1991, the duo joined forces with a few other like-minded musicians and formed the group Metufour, but after failing to find huge success, AmpLive and Zumbi broke off to form Zion I, releasing their first single in 1998. With AmpLive's futuristic mix of beats, samples and live instrumentation coupled with Zumbi's political lyrics, the duo's music caught on with an underground hip hop audience. After multiple hyphy musicians remixed the duo's single, Zion I received mainstream attention in the Bay Area. Since then the band has grown its fan base, while still managing to remain true to its underground hip hop roots.
