God Of Carnage At The Costa Mesa Playhouse

Written by French playwright Yasmina Reza, God of Carnage made its debut in Switzerland in 2006 before coming to London's West End in 2008 for a run that would earn the production an Olivier award and three Tony awards the following year. The story revolves around a schoolyard incident of violence between two children that sparks a meeting between their parents. The ensuing encounter results in a chaotic conversation that touches on subjects of violence, chauvinism, racial anxiety and homophobia. Upper middle-class living is explored in this daring, evocative and hilarious evening of theater, which has enjoyed wild success in both New York and London. Reza's tack-sharp wit and gutsy skill with the pen attribute themselves to this fanged excavation of what lies beneath normative complacency when the gloves are off.

    Santa Ana, CA 92704
Santa Barbara, California-based band Gardens and Villa doesn't hide the fact that it resides in a sunny, coastal town known for its laidback vibes and generally wealthy inhabitants. Instead, it embraces its hometown and creates exactly the type of music one would expect to come out of it: sunny, laidback indie rock. While there might be plenty of Southern California bands creating the same style of music, Gardens and Villa adds enough unexpected elements--like a wooden flute and funky synths--to easily set itself apart from its contemporaries. Since forming in 2008, the five-piece has steadily built up a following in its home state, and after releasing its debut album in 2011, received positive press from publications around the country.

The Los Angeles-based outfit Rival Sons is a blues rock band with a heavy-hitting, fuzzed-out sound. Since forming in 2008, the band has won over fans both for its songwriting and for its ability to hearken back to another era of rock. After self-releasing its debut album Before the Fire, in 2009, the band signed with Earache Records, a label known for its collection of metal bands. Rival Son's first full-length record with the label, 2010's Pressure & Time, offered a departure from the heavy metal mold of Earache, and the band's blues-inspired hard rock sound stood out sharply for critics and fans. Rival Sons went on to embark on several of its own headlining tours of Europe in between releasing records such as 2012's, Head Down.
