If you are gay or straight, step in. This bar is located close to Nagoya station and serves some great Japanese beverages. There is a wide selection of Sake and Japanese Beer. The varieties of Shochu include Bidan-wheat, Kanata-rice, Kurokirishima (potato) and more. The staff is extremely friendly and speaks English.

»Hard Rock Cafe

Situated close to the Hyatt hotel and abutting an enormous video arcade is indicative of how this outlet has been catering to lovers of rock 'n' roll since 1997. The walls and ceiling are covered by a bewildering array of memorabilia. Add checkered table clothes, wood paneling and loud music, and the classic rock dining experience is complete. A local menu caps the usual selection of American favorites. The most popular item, a sushi roll. The oyako (chicken and egg) sandwich and the teriyaki steak are also well worth a try. If you are looking for a classy place for a drinking date, then Rondonto bar and restaurant is definitely recommended. The atmosphere and decor resembles an old English pub, as intended, and is quite relaxing. There are 200 varieties of alcohol on hand, including fine scotch and whiskey, beers like Guinness, and standard pub fare. Expect to pay more for many drinks, while simple but elegant dishes, like the popular "Devil's Chicken," are also priced similarly.

As one of the small chain of nightclubs in major cities across Japan, this club regularly books up and coming bands that have hits on the charts but are still too new to fill large concert halls. With a capacity of only a few hundred, it is possible to see some of the latest popular music in a close, intimate atmosphere. Sellouts and SRO nights are common. Established bands or their individual members, on solo or revival tours also show up occasionally.

»Jazz & Coffee Yuri

As its name implies, Yuri is a coffee shop that offers its patrons a nice selection of jazz with both recordings and videos of some of the best of the genre. Established in 1968, the small and intimate interior exhibits a nice patina of age. A good spot for lunch, Yuri also offers the popular Japanese curry. Easy to find, it is located on a corner and, like many traditional shops in Japan, has a statue of a tanuki (raccoon), an animal native to Japan and considered good luck, standing at the entrance and playing what looks like a saxophone.

Country Joe is a long established bar run by a fan of American country music. Warm, cozy, friendly are all adjectives that would describe the atmosphere that “Joe” has created here. A musician himself, Joe often has live acts, local musicians and the occasional special guest, on the tiny stage in the back that play good ole country-and-western and other country-flavored music (albeit with a Japanese accent).
