The Rockland County Courthouse and Dutch Gardens is a historic complex that has several structures which contribute to its historic nature. The courthouse was built in 1928 and reflects the Beaux Arts and Art Deco styles of architecture. Whereas, the garden was built in the memory of the early settlements of the area, and is today a beautiful green space amidst the locality.

The Cranberry lake Preserve is a 190 acre (76 Hectare) nature preserve. It boasts a variety of different ecosystems, including a four-acre lake, cliffs and scrubland, mixed hardwood forest, vernal pools, and a swamp, all of which house many native, protected species. Come enjoy a hike through nature and see the wildlife that makes this park their home. Or follow the history trail to a 19th-century farmhouse and early 20th-century stone-mining operation to learn about the history of the area.

Located on 28 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands, this non-profit cultural institution overlooks the Hudson River. Wave Hill is dedicated to exploring the interaction between human beings and the natural environment. It maintains four historic buildings and five greenhouses and has won many awards for its gardens. Its Arts Program presents the work of contemporary artists and landscape professionals. Partake in educational, horticultural and art programmes that are held at the cultural center from time to time. Come enjoy the feast of nature in its own arms.
Located in Scarsdale, this popular golf course features rolling hills, a wooded landscape and challenging greens. Designed by Tom Winton, the course opened to the public in 1931. Today the course features locker rooms, practice greens, restaurant and catering services, driving range and pro shop. During the summer months the onsite restaurant features live music.
If you long for some quiet from the Manhattan crowds, then the 1,146 acres of Van Cortlandt Park is made for you. This is the third largest park in New York City, but one of the least well known. It is filled with playgrounds, fields, picnic areas, a lake, and the Van Cortlandt House Museum. There is also a swimming pool, horseback riding and stables, a golf course, cross-country skiing trails, tennis courts, two nature trails and a bird sanctuary. Admission is free.
The Van Cortlandt Park Ice Skating Rink is probably the only one of its kind in the Bronx. Open through the year, this arena is used for both ice skating and ice hockey. They have special programs for kids, as well as private lessons, group lessons, ice hockey lessons and a lot more. You are most likely to find the spot filled with kids of all ages, gliding along effortlessly on the ice. The center also has rental space available for kids' birthday parties.
Located in White Plains, this public park facility features over 700 acres (283 hectares) of outdoor fun for everyone. The park offers a multitude of activities for both kids and adults year-round. A highlight for the kids is the aquatic playground and miniature golf course. The Saxon Woods Golf Course features an challenging 18-hole course and is also located within the park. Connecting the various facilities offered at this vast park is the hiking trail system that wind through mature forested areas extending from the Hutchinson River Parkway all the way to the Twin Lakes Park and Colonial Greenway. This former farm, built in 1879 by Howard J. Griffen, once featured a cider mill and large four story barn. In 1925 the Westchester County Parks Commission acquired the land where a nine hole golf course had already been designed by Tom Winton. The county went on to complete the course to a full 18 holes in 1927. Today the course features an onsite restaurant, clubhouse with catering facility and practice greens. Open seven days a week, this historic course offers a challenging round of golf.
Located in Washington Heights, Fort Tryon Park and its 67 acres (27.11 hectares) of land are home to some of the best views in The Bronx, as well as a number of other worthy tourist attractions. Featuring one of the highest points in the city, Fort Tryon Park offers stunning views of the Hudson River, George Washington Bridge, and other magnificent vistas. Highlights of the park include the Alpine Garden and Heather Garden, as well as the full-service restaurant, New Leaf Cafe. Perhaps the most popular attraction of the park is The Cloisters, the medieval branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The park also contains two playgrounds and a gazebo, and visitors are welcome to picnic, run, or ride bikes through the park.
