Located some 60 kilometers northeast of Tokyo, Narita International Airport is the main access point for the vast majority of travelers visiting the Tokyo area. There are two terminals that handle arriving and departing passengers. At present there is only one runway, but a second one is planned. The airport handles approximately 25 million passengers a year. Some 50 international carriers operate from the two terminals. Access to Tokyo by public transport is best facilitated by Narita Express to Yokohama Station, Tokyo Station, and other stops on the JR Yamanote Line and Japan Railways Keisei Line to Ueno. Limousine bus to Tokyo City Air Terminal, Tokyo Station and major hotels is also popular. Taxis are available, but are expensive, and do not save any time over public transport. Narita International Airport is one of the most modern user-friendly airports in the world. It has a variety of restaurants and bars, shops, banking facilities and duty-free shops. Hotels are located nearby, though it is possible to take a shower in the airport if you need to.
A humble city, shadowed by the might of Tokyo, Chiba is a bustling urban town and the capital of the Chiba Prefecture of Japan. As with the rest of Japan, this city can trace its origins to ancient times, though it was officially founded in 1921, and received government designation of a city much later in 1992. The city is famous for the Chiba Urban Monorail, considered to be the longest suspended monorail. The city also has its own share of attractions, including the Chiba Zoo and Makuhari Messe.
