Vietnamese food is the ultimate health food because of its high vegetable and rice content. Aside from the health benefits, it's also delicious. Here you will find all sorts of Vietnamese delicacies like egg rolls, noodle soups, stuffed rice flour pancakes and Vietnamese Salad (lettuce, cilantro, lime wedges and sprouts rolled in rice paper with meat and seafood). Wash it all down with fresh juices and teas or iced coffee or imported beer.
Let's start with dessert. In fact, the staff here will serve your meal in any order you desire. The desserts are so good you could make a meal out of them alone. The Banana Pudding has the perfect consistency and comes with little vanilla wafers just like grandma makes. Fresh fruit pies and cobblers and three varieties of cheesecake will kill your diet in a single bite. Now for your meal, choose from delicious meat entrees like fried chicken, roast beef, country ham and fried catfish. Pair your meat with fresh vegetables, hot rolls and sweetened ice tea, and you're in for a real treat. No alcohol served. Cash only.
Bobbie's Dairy Dip offers authentic drive-in fare including delicious home-style burgers, hot-dogs, fries, onion rings, and amazing soft-serve ice cream. The burgers are all 100 percent Black Angus beef and the Holy Guacamole Burger is especially tasty. The ice cream is rich and creamy and available in vanilla or chocolate, dipped or undipped. With 10 percent dairy fat, it's a dieter's nightmare, but well worth it in flavor. Seating at Bobbie's is patio-style under a tin roof with a well-positioned ceiling fan. It's perfect for a drive-in, but limited, so most guests just order, wait and go.
Miss Saigon offers guests a wide selection of Vietnamese cuisine in a beautiful and relaxing environment. Their pho is hearty with a wonderful rich flavor and just the right amount of meat or seafood. The spicy beef soup is particularly good and not always available at other Vietnamese restaurants. While only a starter, the Vietnamese spring rolls are some of the best in town. They are light and flaky with just the right filling and best when dipped in chili oil. If you’re looking for a really, nice Vietnamese place with good food and good service, Miss Saigon is the only choice in town. -Lynn-nore Chittom
A typical neighborhood dive bar, Betty's Grill is a favorite haunt among the locals for some cheap beer and food. Located just off the Interstate 40, between Charlotte Avenue and Alabama Avenue, Betty's Grill offers friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. You will not find any fancy embellishments here, just folks looking to sit back, drink a cold beer and enjoy a live musical performance or two. NASCAR fans will especially have a blast here, as the interiors are decked up with NASCAR memorabilia and paraphernalia.
At Korea House, delicious side dishes and Korean barbecue are among the top choices for many guests. The staff is very friendly and eager to see you enjoy your Korean food experience. If you are new to Korean food you might want to try ordering a variety of side dishes to share among your table. If you are looking for amazing ambience, this might not be your best bet, but if you want tasty and authentic Korean food at a spot favored by Korean locals, then Korea House should be your first stop in Nashville.
This local bar and restaurant is truly a neighborhood bar, with the staff often calling you by name and remembering your drink order. The interior of this homey place features old maps, photographs and local memorabilia. Evenings usually include live music from local bands or karaoke accompanied by nightly specials and a happy hour. The food portion of this friendly establishment is populated by locally smoked meats for gourmet sandwiches, soups, and salads. Their brew selection highlights many local breweries and the wine menu features an eclectic array of choices.
Caffe Nonna is a cozy tiny establishment, but never boring. A small bar and half a dozen tables are always packed. Traditional Italian appetizers and salads begin the meal. The calamari is very good. A full menu features sandwiches and gourmet pizzas that have wheat dough piled high with your choice of meat and vegetables. Mix and match different types of pasta with their specialty sauces like pesto cream, white clam or Arrabiata.
Working parents and weary business travelers know that sometimes the best meal is simple home cooking served quickly. There is always room for one more at this busy eatery, and the menu is filled with home-style favorites like burgers and fries, huge salads and hearty meatloaf. At McCabe Pub's fresh vegetables, barbecue platters and fried catfish are always served with fresh baked bread. The decor is part family restaurant and part sports bar. Charming wood and glass trophy cases display sports jerseys of different stars.
Golden Thai Cuisine just north of the downtown business district, is Nashville's best choice for Thai cuisine. Curried chicken, beef and shrimp are served with white rice and fresh vegetables. The noodle dishes are fantastic and feature a rich and creamy peanut sauce. Coconut ice cream, the perfect ending to your meal, is served with fresh peanuts. Domestic beer is served here, but if you want wine, you must bring your own. Your server will gladly uncork and serve your favorite bottle.
The décor is simple and understated, yet elegant and tasteful. Linen tablecloths, dark woods and glass accents lend themselves well to the romantic atmosphere. Start your meal with an outrageously tasty Caesar salad. Choose one of the fresh seafood entrees or a thick, juicy steak so tender it literally falls off the bone. Southwestern chicken pasta is a hot and spicy selection. Alcohol and soft beverages are served.
Sonobana Japanese Restaurant offers some of the most delicious sushi and Japanese cuisine in all of Nashville. The flavors are authentic, and the restaurant is lauded by Japanese nationals as the best in town. The sushi options are plentiful and popular, and the tempura entrées are simply delicious. The menu is designed with pictures of each dish to help the uneducated yet adventurous diner. The décor is primarily designed around Western-style seating, but Sonobana also has two tatami mat rooms with Japanese-style floor seating situated around a low table. The sushi is very affordable, and many guests come just for the sushi bar. - Lynn-nore Chittom
